Self Realization
Imagine having all resources, energy, information, wealth, property, knowledge, beauty, love, and power, but lacking consciousness. There would be no experiencing, knowing, understanding, meaning, or purpose.
Most people pay relatively little attention to consciousness. Consciousness, if thought about at all, is perceived to be in the background, yet it is that by which all else is perceived. It is the one essential attribute without which anything that exists might just as well not exist.
Conceptualize consciousness as being the field in which everything of which we are aware exists. Conceptualize it as a field or a space within which arises infinite patterns of vibrations. The patterns perceived are ripples in the field of consciousness, deriving their existence from and not separate from the cohesive field that gives rise to them, even as waves and currents are not separate from the ocean.
There was a point in my life where a decision was made to begin to focus attention on consciousness; to bring it into the foreground and make it the primary point of attention; instead of it remaining in the background. In other words, consciousness began to focus its attention on consciousness, so that consciousness became the primary object of attention. Previously, consciousness had “merely” been the background field of awareness which enabled subjective experiencing of all of the content on which I had previously focused. It was so far in the background that there was no moment to moment awareness of it. Finally, it was perceived as the FIELD OF AWARENESS. Another way of saying it is that consciousness came face to face with itself and “REALIZED” it’s SELF.
